I DON’T WANT TO

 10 years ago I ran a half marathon, on my birthday. Something I would never put on my bucket list and something I never thought I could do. I’m not a runner. I don’t like running. But I’m glad I did it.  God used it to show me:

A.  I can do things that I don’t think I can accomplish 

B. I can do things I don’t want to do

News From Writer’s Conference June 2023

 Glory to God for all He did at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writer's Conference!

What an unbelievable opportunity 30 minutes from home. Five days of keynote speakers with blessing and encouragement. Classes on the craft of writing by gifted, experienced writers. And each one giving glory to God!

Prior to the conference, God lead me to Lori, a mentor. We shared an hour on a zoom call during which I introduced my book. Her wisdom helped prepare what I would share at the conference regarding my novel in progress.

On Tuesday, just wanting practice,  I gave my pitch to an acquisition manager of a large Christian publisher. By the end, she asked me to send my novel when it is finished! 

In line for dinner that night, I told Lori my good news. She said, "I've been thinking about you all day. You need to meet Bob at dinner tonight. Let's go!" 
 
What about Bob? He is an agent for a large Christian agency, much sought after at the conference.

I approached his table. Bob said, "Come sit right here." pointing to the chair next to him.
He asked for my pitch. I gave it. He liked it! He asked for my one page summary. I gave it to him too. He liked it too!
We spent the next 30 minutes talking about next steps and how I should proceed with my incomplete novel.

This is not how you usually get an agent, by a long shot. It takes numerous submissions to numerous agents before you find the right fit. This was only by God's doing.

So, I believe I have a specific mission and message to prepare in this story. May it honor our Lord and Savior.
